Lithuanian state-owned JSC Lithuanian Radio and Television Centre (hereinafter Telecentre) is rapidly expanding new generation data transmission network operating on the basis of 4G LTE technology.
During 8 months of the development the company’s high-speed Internet network has covered 100 Lithuanian towns and villages. 400 base stations have already been mounted in the country’s cities, resorts, district and municipal centres and villages. On 17 August at 11:58 a.m. the Telecentre information system recorded 15000th customer who uses 4G LTE MEZON communication.
Currently Telecentre 4G LTE network covers the territory of Lithuania where 70% of the population reside.
“We can offer Internet plans of up to 30 Mbps for customers in LTE network and we see that the customers are very favourably disposed towards the issue. What is more, the new network enables us to supply modern telecommunication services such as smart TV via Internet for customers in the neatest future“, says Remigijus Šeris, CEO of Telecentre.
Telecentre intends to cover 150 Lithuanian towns and villages with high-speed LTE network by the end of 2016. By the end of the year 600 base stations should be working in this network, whereas the total number of base stations in the company’s operated 4G data transmission networks is expected to exceed 1000.
