After a successful start of modernization of MEZON 4G Internet network last year, JSC Lithuanian Radio and Television Centre (Telecentre) together with a technological partner, manufacturer of mobile communication infrastructure from China Huawei Technologies, continue a rapid development of the network and are going to install at least 450 base stations for the new generation 4G LTE mobile communication this year.
MEZON 4G Internet network is expected to comprise the total of 1100 base stations at the end of 2016, which will ensure high quality Internet communication in Lithuanian towns and villages.
“To satisfy the growing needs of customers we need to use the technologies ensuring a particularly high quality of data transmission services. Modernization and implementation of the most advanced technologies such as LTE enables to be competitive in the market and maintain a high level of services for the existing and new customers. High network capacity is the exceptionality of our network, which enables to ensure unlimited data during peak and off-peak on work days and weekends in accordance with the downlink chosen by the customer“, says Romas Bunevičius, CTO at Telecentre.
According to the CTO, the new generation 4G LTE Huawei mobile communication network ensures effective and high quality supply of Internet. “Base stations for the new generation Huawei mobile communication allow effective use of the owned radio frequencies and satisfy the everyday-growing need of customers for mobile Internet speed and data amount. The company’s continuous 80 MHz bandwidth enables to provide Internet downlink of up to 100 Mbps per customer, whereas application of the radio signal aggregation function – 200 Mbps. Still, this is not the limit. Telecentre engineers together with Huawei specialists are currently testing new solutions which will allow reaching 400 Mbps downlink in the nearest future, and even 1 Gbps downlink next year“, says Romas Bunevičius.
According to Romas Bunevičius, reaching the highest speed is not the company’s aim, yet ensuring the service of unlimited Internet to customers is what the company considers the most important. “MEZON Internet plans reflect the needs of our customers, i.e. to obtain a service of unlimited and defined downlink Internet without any hidden or additional conditions. The listed Internet speeds serve as illustration for the network potential, whereas our aim is to ensure implementation of the plans chosen by customers. As we see, our chosen strategy has justified: after customers had given positive evaluations for the jump in the quality of the service and convenient plans for unlimited data, data usage in 4G LTE network increased 2.5 times, whereas the amount of the data downloaded/uploaded by the average customer per month exceeds 100 GB“, claims Romas Bunevičius, CTO at Telecentre.
