National Health Insurance Fund backup data copy – the highest reliability in the Luxembourg data center

Telecentras provided the State Health Insurance Fund (VLK) with the service of storing backup data copies in a foreign (EU) data center.

A backup copy of VLK data is stored in one of Luxembourg’s data centers. The comprehensive service provided to the health insurance fund by Telecentras includes data copy storage, colocation, and secure data transmission solutions.

“The State Health Insurance Fund, which ensures the reimbursement of healthcare services and medicines for residents, manages and processes a very wide range of data related to compulsory health insurance, including residents’ personal data about their health and treatment. Considering the nature and importance of this data, this year we decided to store one of the backup data copies in a remote foreign data center,” says Eimantas Minkevičius, Head of the Information Systems Supervision Department at VLK.

“Data hosting in the data centers of European Union countries is a particularly important component in ensuring the data security of Lithuanian state institutions, so one of Telecentras’s strategic areas and goals is to provide state institutions with reliable data storage and business continuity solutions,” says Telecentras director Remigijus Šeris. “We aim for state data security to be ensured comprehensively – by combining the infrastructure we manage in Lithuania with the capabilities offered by reliable international partners.”

According to Ernestas Račkelis, head of the ITT services department at Telecentras, the backup copy of VLK data is stored in a Luxembourg state-run data center. Its services are used by banks operating in Luxembourg, EU institutions, healthcare providers, and critical infrastructure operators.

The Luxembourg data center chosen by Telecentras has been awarded the Tier IV certificate. “This is the highest rating for data center infrastructure reliability, confirming an exceptionally high level of resilience and operational continuity, as well as practically uninterrupted service delivery,” notes E. Račkelis.
