A lower airspace monitoring solution presented to government institutions

press release

Lithuanian institutions were shown ReDrone CUAS, a system for monitoring low-altitude airspace. A demonstration in Kaunas district tested detection, identification, and tracking capabilities using Telecentras tower infrastructure.

• The four-layer sensor network detected and tracked five drone types, including Shahed-type drones, at altitudes up to 3 km.

• State-owned towers improved passive sensor and radar coverage, while simulated attack scenarios tested varied routes, speeds, and altitudes.

• Telecentras highlighted its tower network, data transmission capabilities, and backup power as assets for integrating and resiliently operating the detection system.

Minister of Transport Juras Taminskas comment:

Our shared priority is the safety of the state and its citizens. Today, not only the capabilities of drone detection systems were tested, but also the important functions that the radio, television, and telecommunications towers managed by the Ministry of Transport can perform. I believe that the results of this test will be evaluated and will serve Lithuania’s security in developing a drone detection and tracking system.

Telecentras CEO Remigijus Šeris comment:

Telecentras participates in this test as a physical infrastructure operator, managing the network of the tallest towers in Lithuania. We also manage the capacity data transmission network, which is very important when integrating the detection system with other control systems. Our infrastructure is equipped with backup power capacity, which  greatly increases its resilience to various crisis situations in the country.
